Care guide

A little care,
a lifetime of use.

Walnut is naturally antimicrobial and remarkably forgiving. With a few simple habits, your Heritage board will serve your kitchen for decades - and only grow more beautiful.

The ritual

Four habits that keep walnut glowing.

01

Wash by hand, right away

Rinse with warm water and a small amount of mild soap. Wipe both sides so the board dries evenly, and never let it soak - standing water is walnut's only real enemy.

02

Dry upright

Stand the board on its edge so air reaches every surface. Laying it flat on a wet counter traps moisture underneath and can encourage warping over time.

03

Condition monthly

When the wood looks dry or feels rough, work in a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil, let it drink overnight, then buff with a little beeswax. The board will deepen in color and glow.

04

Keep it away from heat

No dishwasher, no microwave, and avoid resting it against a hot oven or in direct sun for long stretches. Heat pulls moisture out unevenly.

What to avoid

A short list of nevers.

  • Never put your board in the dishwasher - the heat and steam will crack even the finest walnut.
  • Don't soak it in the sink, even for a few minutes.
  • Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or vinegar baths; mild soap is all it needs.
  • Don't store it flat in a damp spot or sealed in a cabinet while still wet.
